Who we are and what we are about

The Albemarle Retriever Club is a nonprofit organization composed of people who enjoy working and spending time with their dogs. We are interested in helping you train your dog to be a well mannered family member and a source of pride.

Our members are as varied as the breeds they own. Many are active hunters and participate in field trials and hunt tests to keep their skills sharp year round. Still others are involved in conformation, tracking, flyball, and agility. All these events are sponsored by organizations such as the AKC, UKC, HRC, and NAHRA.

Our Stated Purpose:

To create a closer relationship and encourage cooperation between breeders, owners, trainers and fanciers of hunting retrievers by improving the breeds beneficial to all concerned. To provide hunters and hunting enthusiasts a method to experience controlled situations very close to actual hunting where they can test their training techniques, provide experience for other hunters and participate in a sporting competition.

Further, the purpose of this club is to support and protect the inherent rights of its members to own, hunt, and bear arms; to promote the use of dogs in hunting situations as a method of conservation and management of game birds; and provide and promote communication and camaraderie between its members and the local community.
